Description:.

A discussion centered on the findings and implications of the first cross carrier 2D trial. Items to be discussed include the level of participation as well as feedback from participants. Mike Kenney, a Case chemistry professor will speak about the use of mobile technology in the classroom and MEM students will provide first hand user experiences along with personal stories from the trial. The panel will be moderated by Professor Gary Wnek.

• reached 1000 scans in one day

• CODEBOOK - facebook app developed to show what you've and yr friends have scanned
• CueCat = EPIC FAIL :-) - privacy issues and sued people over hacking code
• scan code on yr CASE id and they will get personalized test to their device
• (MIKE KENNEY) future - scan 2d code on printed check-in slip and get notified when gate changes
• pushback was primarily on cost of airtime in scanning the code if not on a data plan.  Sprint donated 50 phones for that occurance or for people that could not scan (no camera) or without a mobile device.

Description:

A discussion on mobile advertising and how 2D codes will revolutionize the experience. Examples and use cases that illustrate this shift will be elaborated on in detail. Topics to be covered include the current state of advertising, the implications of code technology and the possibilities moving forward.

Ensuring all citizens have access to the Internet’s tools and services – often referred to as “digital inclusion” – has become a growing priority for many communities as digital access becomes a necessity for all citizens. OneCommunity, a local nonprofit operator of one of the world’s largest fiber-optic broadband networks, unveils a 5-square-mile area of University Circle and Cleveland Heights to be covered by a free public outdoor wireless mesh network. OneCommunity shares how this new network, an extension of the Case campus network, is designed to facilitate adoption of technology, community engagement and collaboration.
