Engineering

User Experience Designer

Evernote develops software to provide advanced visualizations on a wide variety of information. This includes desktop software on Windows and Mac OS X, multiple web interfaces, and several capture tools for mobile phones. We are looking for a skilled User Experience Designer to own our usability design and implementation. This person will work to develop common usability metaphors that will work across platforms, while collaborating with engineering to ensure appropriarte implementations on each platform.

This will be a hands-on position: we're looking for someone who can provide specific guidance on all aspects of usability, working with external resources as needed for graphic design, usability evaluation, etc.

Required skills:

  • Developing wireframes, site maps, and information architectures
  • Web and desktop application prototyping
  • HTML design
  • Translating functional specifications into user-oriented designs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Photoshop or equivalent image processing
  • Experience designing for Mac, Windows and web

Technical Support

Evernote is looking for someone with experience in email-based customer technical support to come on board immediately to help provide support to our users. This position will handle support requests, bug reports, and feedback from a wide variety of free and premium users via a web-based customer support system. Will also work to maintain knowledge base and user help files (FAQs, etc.).

Required experience:

  • Comfortable with Mac OS X
  • Windows XP and Vista
  • Prior technical support experience in consumer-focused application
  • Strong written English communication skills

Senior Web Application Engineer

Evernote is looking for an experienced Java programmer to join our development team to expand and enhance our browser-based "client" interface. This developer will own the AJAX-style rich web UI for note management, which will require coordinating server-side behavior with a local Google Web Toolkit (GWT) client.

Required experience:

  • Server-side Java (Servlets, JSP)
  • Core Java APIs (mail, networking)
  • Javascript
  • Strong understanding of HTTP (headers, cookies, caching, etc.)
  • HTML/CSS
  • Web application MVC development

Prior experience with GWT would be a very strong plus.

HTML/CSS Designer

Evernote is seeking someone with a strong background in HTML and CSS to work with our engineering and marketing teams to implement polished web interfaces. This person will coordinate with our contract graphic designers to translate graphical presentations into clean, concrete implementations that will work across all of our supported web browsers (IE, Safari, Firefox). We're looking for someone who can help us implement clean, maintainable web interfaces.

Required experience:

  • HTML
  • CSS
  • Javascript
  • Source control systems (CVS, SVN, etc.)
  • Strong written and verbal communications
  • Good visual design and layout skills

Senior Windows Engineer

Evernote is seeking an experienced Windows application developer to help us grow our popular consumer offering. This developer will work closely with the existing team to help build and maintain the user interface and platform support for the Windows client. This will require coordination with the tech leads and usability designer to implement a consistent and smooth experience.

Required experience:

  • Visual Studio (C++)
  • Microsoft Win32 UI development
  • Multi-threaded application development
  • Transactional data storage
  • Win32 networking
  • Experience integrating external libraries and modules into production interfaces
  • Object-oriented design skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication

Experience with WebKit on Windows would be a strong plus.
